Laboratory Research Assistant
The student will support research personnel in the laboratory. Duties include general laboratory upkeep including basic maintenance and testing of equipment, reagent inventories, dish management, and restocking of supplies. Further, the incumbent will support research in the lab by preparing basic shared and individually used reagents such as solutions and buffers. The incumbent will assist the PI or LSR in quarterly laboratory safety self-inspections and is responsible for the restocking and cleanliness of personal protective equipment.
Essential Functions and duties:
25% Dish management (cleaning and restocking dishes)
25% Lab upkeep and mainenance (refilling cleaning solutions, exchanging bench pads, testing equipment, lab safety self-inspections, inventory)
50% restocking supplies (buffers, solutions, common reagents)
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Required:
- Teamworking and strong interpersonal skills and communication.
- meticulous note-taking
Preferred:
- Previous experience in Loerch lab (attending previous laboratory meetings, taking pre-requisite)
